ABOUT RIDE FREE

Simply put, RIDE FREE is an exploration of a story that often goes untold. Every day, people ignite the engines of their automobiles. Is this by habit? By choice? Or is it because they feel like they have to drive cars.

RIDE FREE uncovers the truth about the lack of safe transportation choices. In this documentary, viewers learn more about the economic benefits of cycling in comparison to driving.

With exclusive interviews from Georgia Bikes Executive Director Brent Buice and BikeAthens Executive Director Tyler Dewey, Director Cody Nichelson creates a masterful short film that brings to light an important issue that all Americans should be aware of. We all deserve the right to ride free.

Originally from the small town of Rockmart, Ga., Cody Nichelson is now senior at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. Cody was introduced to film at a young age when he was given his first camcorder at the age of nine. He became seriously interested in film as a senior in high school when he produced his high school's news broadcast each week and filmed the high school football games. Cody began making short films and filming weddings when he received his first DSLR camera as a sophomore at UGA. This film was directed, produced, filmed and edited by Nichelson for a documentary film class at the University of Georiga.

Cody is currently studying public relations, political science and religion. This is his first documentary.
